3D Manifesto explores the exciting world of Stereo-3D photography, as seen through the magical wonder tech of red/cyan 3D glasses. It's mostly a photo gallery, partly a blog, and very rarely updated.

In my non-photo-hobby time I develop video games and VR experiences, independently and for clients.

Glasses-Free 3D, without dead zones

Display maker AU Optronics aims to eliminate the main objection to 3DTV: the glasses.

From LCDTV.net:

Deadzones, in a 3D display that requires no glasses, are the angles from where the viewer cannot see anything clearly. Most of these displays need the eyeballs to be right at the center. However, this new 3D display from AUO has no such requirements and has a wide viewing angle.

Screen sizes currently max out at 15.6 inches, though larger models are expected in the near future. Production begins Q3 '11.

360° Stereo 3D Gallery

Click to view 360° version. Here's something cool. Recent startup TechTol specializes in near-instantaneous 360 degree photo captures, which can then be displayed via Flash in a web browser. The whole process from capture to display is less than a minute.

Uses for this range from product pages to educational and medical apps and beyond. As a bonus for 3D fans, the system also allows instant stereoscopic views. No word yet on costs involved.
